The MAP-IT Nigeria team hosted their hypertension academy workshop in April 2024, training 121 community nurses and health extension workers in Akwa Ibom State to perform simplified management of hypertension at the primary care level. Over 800 health workers have gone through this program now, including physicians, pharmacists, community health extension workers, nurses, and nurse trainers.
Also in April, a practice facilitator came to work with nurses in one of MAP-IT’s community health centers. Practice facilitation is a key part of the MAP-IT strategy being studied and practice facilitators are retired senior nurses who provide their expertise onsite and remotely to study nurses serving people living with HIV.
